Bridge of Promise is a non-profit organization that serves adults 21+ with various disabilities. These individuals have graduated from the education system, are limited in their employment options and/or require full time supported care (in-home or facility based). The setback that our members face on a day to day basis is a massive lack of opportunity to engage within their communities, which is something that is an important part of life for these individuals, as it is for all individuals in society.
Many of the members we serve require 24-hour medical, behavioral, and physical care. Unfortunately, due to lack of government funding and opportunity, the bulk of this care falls upon family members and aging parents. For a ‘typical’ adult, finding ways to connect with community can be as simple as joining a gym, taking an online course, or joining a club; for our historically underserved population, the same opportunities do not exist.
Here at Bridge of Promise, we have a dedicated group of people that work to support and advocate for our members with disabilities. Some of which have profound support needs, and requires a large number of staff to accommodate (1 staff for every 2 members). We strive to provide a level of comfort for our families, knowing that their loved one will always be in the care of our staff and never left out.
In order to provide the care that our members and their families deserve, we rely heavily on fundraising and donations to operate our program. Without your support, Bridge of Promise would not exist. We currently serve families in Carnation, Redmond, Bellevue, Kent, and have high hopes to open a program in Shoreline in the near future. Our programs have worked hard to help facilitate engagement of our members within their society, and we want to be able to provide this service for years to come.
Thank you for supporting such a fantastic group of individuals, their families and our program.
